Maa (transl. Mother) is a 2025 Indian Hindi-language mythological horror film directed by Vishal Furia. Starring Kajol in a hauntingly powerful lead performance, the film also features Ronit Roy, Indraneil Sengupta, and Kherin Sharma. A spiritual spinoff of the 2024 film Shaitaan, Maa expands the shared universe into darker, more mythic territory.
The narrative centers on a grieving mother who, after the unexplained and supernatural death of her husband, returns with her daughter to his ancestral village. There, they become entangled in an ancient curse rooted in forgotten rituals and buried guilt—forces far older and more terrifying than they could have imagined. As the boundaries between myth and reality begin to dissolve, the mother must confront not just the evil around her, but the shadows within her own soul.
