Early Life and Education Vijay Sethupathi was born in Rajapalayam, Tamil Nadu, before his family later moved to Chennai. During his school years, he considered himself an average student and showed little interest in sports or extracurricular activities. Despite facing rejection during his first film audition as a teenager, he never abandoned his dream of becoming an actor. After completing his schooling, he earned a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) degree from Dhanraj Baid Jain College in Chennai. Before entering films, he worked in several jobs, including as an accounts assistant and later as an accountant in Dubai. However, his passion for acting eventually brought him back to India. Returning from Dubai in 2003, Vijay began his film journey by working as a background artist and appearing in numerous short films.
